15 quick/bulk recipes to save the day

How do you keep to a budget as a home cook?

There are three low-value options: panic buys, default meals, and takeaways.

  • You should want a takeaway, not need one.
  • Making a reliable meal keeps your budget, but gets tiring.
  • Last-minute buys at express stores waste time and cost more for less.

Let's paint the alternative. Instead, rely on quick to make meals, bulk dishes, and ingredients ideal for freezing and fast reuse. You don't need to commit your Sunday to meal prepping. A little bit here and there goes a long way.

Here are some meal ideas to save your day - for when you don't have much in the pantry, are planning a night out, or simply don't feel like cooking.

Soak 300g dried beans in water overnight. The next morning, drain, rinse, and put in a pan with cold water to about 3cm above coverage, three whole cloves of garlic, and 2-3 tbsp olive oil.
